When you stay in one of our historic overwater cottages, you’re getting much more than a room with a view. Here is a sampling of what you can experience out of the comfort of your cottage at Hidden Treasures, Matlacha.
There’s so much to explore in the clear and calm waters of Matlacha. Whether you’re paddling for a workout or simply to relax, we invite you to grab some of our gear and hit the water.
No peaceful morning or relaxing evening is complete without the beautiful sunrises and sunsets over the water. The painted skies of Matlacha are truly a treasure that money can’t buy.
As you stand over the most pristine saltwater flats of Southwest Florida, it feels natural to grab your rod and reel and cast for one of many different gulf shore species. The island features a full service bait and tackle shop for your convenience.
Home to birds and sea creatures of all varieties, it is not uncommon to see manatee and dolphins playing near the shallows where the waters are calm – or the osprey and bald eagles soaring overhead.
In case our guests desire to dock a boat during their stay, Hidden Treasures has multiple docks as well as two boat lifts just out over the water, directly out from our cottages.
A staple of Matlacha for many decades, you can eat fresh seafood and listen to live, local music at Bert’s throughout the week. With ample seating out over the water, and a menu to suit the whole family, you can’t go wrong at Bert’s Bar.
Nationally renowned artist Rick Kelley houses his famous art gallery just in front of our cottages. Stop in and ask about his works that have made their way into the private art collections of former US Presidents.
